Whip up a batch of your own pumpkin spice blend in minutes to add the freshest flavor to your fall favorites!
During the early days of the Covid pandemic, store shelves were often bare. I remember wanting to make some pumpkin bread and I couldn’t find pumpkin spice anywhere. So, I figured out how to make my own and I haven’t gone back.
You can mix up a batch of this seasoning in minutes and I often find it tastes so much better too! Why not?
What You’ll Need:
- ground cinnamon
- ground ginger
- ground allspice
- ground nutmeg
- ground cloves
Making the Recipe:
Many of these spices you may already have on hand. If you need to buy just a little bit of a spice, I recommend going to your local Co-op or a grocer that sell spices in bulk containers. It’s cheaper and you won’t have to buy more than you will likely use in the next few months, which means your spices are fresher!
Measure out and mix together all of the spices in the recipe. Use a whisk to make sure they are combined well and that you don’t have any clumps of ground ginger left in the mix.
Put the mixed spices in a spice jar or a 4oz mason jar with an airtight lid for storage. I recommend storing them in a glass container.
Enjoy your pumpkin spice blend in baked treats like breads, cookies, muffins and pie. It’s also delicious in smoothies and overnight oats, energy bites, chili and more. Check out the recipe page on my website for additional recipes using pumpkin and go to town with all things pumpkin!
