Pomegranate and Orange Mocktail with Rosemary

pomegranate orange and rosemary mocktail.

Ring in the holiday season with this wintery pomegranate and citrus mocktail. You can easily convert it to a cocktail too!

Not everyone wants a cocktail, but they still want something special and fun to drink at their holiday celebrations.

This mocktail can be made with sparkling water (plain or flavored) or ginger beer, along with some pomegranate juice and freshly squeezed citrus juices. You can play around with the proportions of the ingredients to make your own!

What You’ll Need:

  • pomegranate juice
  • pomegranate arils
  • orange juice
  • lime juice
  • orange bitters
  • sparkling water or ginger beer
  • fresh rosemary (garnish)
  • orange peel (garnish)

Making the Recipe:

Making a mocktail like this is really easy.

Start by cleaning your citrus fruits and the outside of your pomegranate (if using a fresh one). There are a lot of hands touching your produce. When you cut through the flesh, you drag what’s on the outside into your juice (yuck!). You’ll also be using the peel of the orange as a garnish in your drink.

Now, on to the fun stuff! Cut the pomegranate in quarters and and remove the arils, unless you want to skip this part and buy the arils. Most grocery stores have them available in the winter season. It’s cheaper to buy a pomegranate and the arils are often fresher, but it does take a little work to do this yourself.

Cut off a bit of the peel of the orange if you are using it as a garnish. Juice your lime and and orange.

Now you’re ready to use your cocktail shaker!

Measure out 2 oz. of pomegranate juice, 1 oz. of orange juice and 1/2 oz. of lime juice for each drink you plan to make. Pour the juices in a cocktail shaker with some ice and add 4-5 dashes of orange bitters for each drink.

Shake the juice mixture until the shaker is chilled. Pour the juice in to glasses with some ice. Add in either the sparkling water or ginger beer and give it a stir. Garnish with some fresh rosemary and an orange peel.

Description

Ring in the holiday season with this wintery pomegranate and citrus mocktail. You can easily convert it to a cocktail too!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz. pomegranate juice
  • 1 oz. orange juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1/2 oz. lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 45 dashes orange bitters
  • 2 oz. sparkling water or ginger beer
  • Rosemary sprig, for garnish
  • 1 Tbsp. pomegranate arils, for garnish
  • orange peel, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Measure out the pomegranate juice, orange juice and lime juice in a cocktail shaker with some ice. Add a few dashes or orange bitters, if making this a mocktail.
  2. Shake the juice mixture until the shaker is chilled. If you don’t have a shaker, don’t sweat it! I sometimes will just use a blender bottle to do this or stir the juices together in a glass with a spoon.
  3. Add in 2 oz. of sparkling water or ginger beer and stir.
  4. Garnish with some pomegranate arils, a sprig of fresh rosemary and an orange peel.

Notes

  • You can also rim your glass with a little juice or water and dip the rim in some sugar to make this even fancier!
  • Substitute 2-oz. of vodka and 1-oz. of orange liqueur for the bitters and sparkling water/ginger beer, if you want to make this a cocktail.
